Abstract:Root exudates play an important role in the formation of soil structure, soil nutrient activation, plant nutrient absorption, environmental stress mitigation. They also play a critical role in energy and matter circulation in forest ecosystem. Global change may cause the change of carbon flux in the belowground part of forest ecosystem, and then affect the belowground carbon dynamics and carbon cycle. Thus, the effect of global warming on belowground ecological process is becoming a hot topic under the background of global climate change, and the response of root exudates to global warming will directly affect the ecosystem carbon balance. However, there are few studies focusing on the response of root exudates to warming, while the results are uncertain. This paper reviews the effects of warming on the quantity and quality of plant root exudates, and the possible influence of root exudates on terrestrial carbon cycle under the background of warming was discussed. Last but not the least, the future research direction of root exudates was prospected. The future research should also strengthen the research on the effects of different warming methods and the interaction between warming and other climate change factors on root exudates and their ecological effects, and reveal the mechanism of the effects of warming on root exudates from the perspective of plant physiological metabolism.
